about

RIFF MELODIC PUNK
This is the oldest track on the album and was written in April 2015. That was the month after my Dad had passed away, it was the month i left my teaching job of 12 years, and the month i left my girlfriend of 4 years to move out of Oxford. I had a flight booked to Thailand but had no idea what the future held and was pretty uncertain.

The music is frantic which fits the song.

The song is book ended by initial thoughts of escaping and travelling to do all the things my Dad never got to do but probably wanted to. The middle section is me expressing to my Dad a few things i wanted to say at the time and maybe thing he was never able to realise in his life because he was brought up and lived in a very rigid way and that made him suffer. But he never saw that there was another route he could have taken in life.

lyrics

Travel as high as you can go, relief is not within the snow
Travel as far as you can go and see if its just another show
Travel inside, bypass the soul, and daily highs will never go
Travel along an open road to seek inside the inner know.

Is it just fate? we'll never know, relying on that has left him old
Pain from that will never go
swallow your pills and drift on by you miss the magic of the sky

hang on stop stop leave that lot
get on your bike and see the spot
where you stopped the sign
settle down there and wrote your line of rot
never decide , even though all your wings would fly away
Look, laugh its all a crack
looking outside at buncies bath
Stop take a look, take note
everything sails down all your moats so

life is a choice to choose, my god

Travel as far as you can go relief is all within
Travel along an open road and everything begins
drop all your tools and strike out at what's hidden inside
