about

This song is also available on my first album but fitted perfectly into this acoustic album.

I wrote a Christmas song all in aid of raising funds for a Nepalese family to have a home this winter (you can still buy the Christmas single) but i rewrote the words as the message is similar but not relating to Christmas.

The overall feeling i wanted to convey is for people to realise how lucky they are. Yes its an old statement but i have one brief story that maybe reflects what i mean.

Whilst in India you realise it is a land of extremes. After a few months in the north i flew down to the south where they have incredible beach resorts. I was still staying in my cheap bungalows or guest houses, but i was able to walk through the tourist areas next to the beach quite often. These areas are crowded with western tourists because it is stunning, but much cheaper than Europe for a family holiday. There was a cliff top walkway overlooking a huge beach which has bars, beautiful restaurants, cafes etc all the way along. Now there is nothing unusual about that at a holiday resort.
However, having become so used to conversing with literally everybody since i arrived i was disturbed to see, everyday, a certain few people, sat along this walk way literally begging for anything. One man had lost both his eyes and had a pot on the floor. 90 percent of people walked past him as if he was some stain on their holiday. I sat down and got to know him and then proceeded to bring him food from my guest house everyday. He was always lovely and chatty and never asked for anything more from me. I took a photo of the lady sat opposite the local coffee bar where westerners were munching away and sipping their coffee as if she wasn't there.
Now i am not being high and mighty. As that was also me before i left my previous life. We are told in England, Don't give to beggars, they will simply buy drugs or alcohol, so we end up viewing street people with this one narrow depiction and end up automatically ignoring their plight.
So i made it an objective to chat to some tourists. Here is the most common answer to the question i asked.
" So what do you think about the beggars along this walkway?"
" well you can't trust them. They're probably getting loads everyday" .
Yes some are scammers, but spend some time there and they are easy to spot. The ones who look healthy, have half decent clothes, have 2 legs, have 2 arms, and look well fed, are probably scammers.
The ones who are thin to the bone and don't ask for money but ask for food?
Its worth 30 seconds of your time to find out which they are. And whilst you can't help them all, just helping one makes a difference.

lyrics

sing my Children sing
that is all you need to bring
What you sing is what you are
We're wise in the ways of a healing song
Be wise in the ways,, that's what you are

See the children sleep,
under stars, themselves to keep
Do we think of the have nots
Be wise in the ways of what you’ve got
We’re wise in the ways of what we are

Hear the people cheer
At the joy of a new year
Is there the joy in lands afar
Be wise in the ways of a distant star
Be wise in the ways of our distant sons
Be wise in the ways, that’s what they are

Freezing nights so still and blue
Family friends call out to you
life and years they come and go
Be wise in the ways of those alone
we're wise in the ways, don't be alone

At this time I hear you say
Where’s the joy in all these days
Well every week can bring the love
Be wise in the ways of a flame filled heart
Wise in the ways of what we’ve got
We’re wise in the ways of a healing song
